Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir encouraged the formation of a Project Management Officer (PMO) team to address the issue of high airplane ticket prices and bolster tourism development.

In connection with the formation of the team, Thohir noted here on Thursday that he had met Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi on October 29 and held a meeting with Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana on Thursday to discuss tourism development.

"The goal (of the team) is to align all policies to become one decision that can provide a solution," he remarked after a meeting with Wardhana.

Thohir said the team that will be formed aims to provide comprehensive solutions to issues related to airplane tickets by applying a cross-ministerial collaborative approach.

He emphasized the importance of aligning policies to ensure effective decisions and real solutions for the tourism sector.

The minister noted that the complexity of tourism problems cannot be downplayed, as fundamental changes to the existing regulations must be made.

He also highlighted the need for cooperation between ministries to achieve the same goal, especially in the tourism sector.

"Maybe in one to two weeks, God willing, the team will be formed and can start to review all policies and derivative policies to be implemented well," he remarked.

On the same occasion, Tourism Minister Wardhana emphasized the importance of involving various ministries and institutions in tackling the issue of transportation accessibility to reach tourist destinations.

She assessed that cooperation is also necessary to ensure plane ticket prices are more affordable for tourists.

This is expected to encourage foreign and domestic travelers to visit tourist destinations in Indonesia.
