According to a DPR release quoted on Saturday, Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Numan Kurtulmus, presided over the forum, which was held on Friday afternoon (April 18) local time.
Before the forum began, Maharani and other parliamentary speakers from like-minded nations attended a meeting with President Erdoğan, who was present for the event’s opening.
The DPR Speaker emphasized that her participation in the inter-parliamentary forum reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to the Palestinian cause.
“Indonesia has demonstrated its support for Palestine’s freedom through a range of means. To complement the government's efforts, the DPR has been actively engaged in parliamentary diplomacy by participating in international fora like this one,” she stated.
Maharani highlighted that the Indonesian parliament has consistently voiced the urgent need to end Israeli atrocities in Gaza, both in bilateral and multilateral discussions.
“We have been in constant coordination with other countries to voice our support for Palestine’s independence and to advocate for the uninterrupted distribution of humanitarian aid to war victims in Gaza,” she added.
She stressed the importance of uniting parliaments in international platforms to amplify support for Palestine and seek tangible, collective solutions to the ongoing conflict.
“It is time for us to go beyond making statements. We must take collective, concrete actions that directly contribute to the struggle of the Palestinian people,” she affirmed.
The Indonesian parliament leader attended the international forum alongside her counterparts from Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Malaysia, Pakistan, Jordan, Senegal, Azerbaijan, Algeria, and Egypt.
