"The international community must make concerted efforts aimed at pushing Israel to fully comply with the agreed-upon ceasefire deal. Hindering the distribution of humanitarian assistance constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian laws," she remarked, as quoted from a release here on Saturday.
In her speech at the forum—organized by the Group of Parliaments in Support of Palestine on Friday (April 18) afternoon, Istanbul time, Maharani condemned Israel's indiscriminate attacks, which have triggered a severe humanitarian crisis disproportionately affecting civilians, especially children.
The House speaker pointed out that despite mounting international pressure, Israel has insisted on continuing its genocidal acts not only in Gaza but also in the West Bank.
Bearing this grim reality in mind, the House speaker reiterated Indonesia's unwavering support for the fight against all forms of colonialism worldwide.
"The Indonesian people always remember the inspirational words from Soekarno, our founding father and first president, who once said, 'As long as the Palestinian people have not regained their independence, Indonesia will remain standing against Israeli occupation'," she stated.
Furthermore, the legislator acknowledged that global stability is being challenged not only by constant armed conflicts but also by an increasingly unstable economic climate, partly stemming from the ongoing tariff war.
“While our countries may face various pressing domestic and international challenges, we must not turn our backs on our shared responsibility to support Palestine’s struggle for freedom and justice,” she stressed.
Expressing regret over the fiasco of the ceasefire agreement reached in early 2025, Maharani called on parliaments around the world to collectively advocate for the end of Israel's aggression and immediate restoration of peace in Palestine.
"The second stage of the ceasefire should be carried out without delay. It is critical for all parliaments to urge their governments to take a stronger stance," she stated.
She also emphasized the importance of countries mobilizing resources and garnering public support for intensified aid delivery to Gaza.
