He delivered the message during a working visit to the Infantry Territorial Development Battalion (Yonif TP) 857/Gana Gajahsora in Pidie District, Aceh, accompanied by Iskandar Muda Regional Military Commander Major General Joko Hadi Susilo.
The visit was part of the Ministry of Defense’s efforts to assess the operational readiness of territorial units and strengthen personnel development in the region.
During the inspection, the minister paid special attention to several support facilities, including the communal kitchen and soldiers’ barracks.
He stressed that the military was born from the people and must continue to build strong relationships by being approachable, assisting communities, and remaining present in every territorial development activity.
Sjafrie also highlighted the importance of discipline and the identity of soldiers.
He noted that the core values of Sapta Marga should guide every member of the force, and that each soldier must uphold personal and unit integrity.
According to him, discipline is the foundation of readiness in facing any threat to the nation.
The minister further underscored the need for strong synergy between the military and the National Police in maintaining national security.
He urged soldiers to avoid violent acts within the ranks or between units and to nurture esprit de corps as a source of solidarity rather than arrogance.
The event was attended by the Deputy Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, the Deputy Army Chief of Staff, senior officials from the Ministry of Defense, and key leaders from the Iskandar Muda Regional Military Command, including the Deputy Commander, staff assistants, the Commander of the 011/Lilawangsa Military Resort Command, and the Commander of the 0102/Pidie District Military Command.
