“I expressed my hope to elevate the special strategic partnership between Indonesia and South Korea into a more comprehensive one,” President Prabowo said in his opening remarks, according to the Presidential Secretariat.
The expansion was formalized through the signing of 10 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) spanning diverse sectors.
Prabowo described South Korea as “Indonesia’s close friend” and emphasized that openness and honesty are vital to sustaining constructive ties amid shifting global dynamics.
Highlighting shared interests as Pacific nations, Prabowo noted that South Korea’s advances in industry, science, and technology could be synergized with Indonesia’s abundant natural resources and large market.
He urged ministers from both sides to swiftly implement cooperation plans so that “the benefits of this upgraded partnership can be felt by the people of both nations.”
Beyond economics, both leaders stressed the importance of peace and stability in navigating global uncertainty, underscoring the strategic weight of their strengthened partnership.
