Jakarta (ANTARA) - South Korean President Lee Jae Myung praised Indonesia, underscoring its position as the only country with which his nation has elevated bilateral ties into a special comprehensive strategic partnership.

He made the remarks while hosting Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Blue House, the presidential office in Seoul, on Wednesday.

“The Republic of Korea has this particular type of partnership only with one country in the entire world,” Lee said, emphasizing South Korea’s view of Indonesia as a valuable partner amid alarming geopolitical dynamics and global economic uncertainty.

President Prabowo and President Lee engaged in cordial and constructive diplomatic exchanges at the Blue House, beginning with a one-on-one meeting followed by a bilateral summit attended by delegations from both countries.

The two presidents used the high-profile occasion to explore ways to deepen bilateral cooperation across strategic sectors.

Prabowo also praised the South Korean government for arranging a notable diplomatic reception for him and his delegation.

“I would also like to express my highest appreciation for the warm welcome and the wonderful ceremony I received. It is a great honor for me to immerse myself in today’s reception,” he told Lee.

The president expressed optimism about Indonesia and South Korea advancing their relations further, as the two countries have enjoyed an ever-expanding partnership over the years.

Several senior officials accompanied the Indonesian leader to the meeting, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto; Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono; Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani; and Marine Affairs and Fisheries Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono.

Meanwhile, the Korean delegation comprised Foreign Minister Cho Hyun; Minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy Kim Jungkwan; and Defense Acquisition Program Administration Minister Lee Yong Cheol; among others.
