Speaking before Commission IV of the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Tuesday, Trenggono said the government is committed to meeting public demand for animal protein, particularly from the fisheries sector.
According to ministry projections, national fish production between April and December 2026 will reach 10.57 million tons, comprising 5.42 million tons from capture fisheries and 5.15 million tons from aquaculture.
He emphasized that the government is monitoring key fishery commodities in eight major consumption centers to ensure availability and smooth distribution.
“Based on monitoring results, fish availability is in the safe category until June 2026,” he said.
Trenggono added that strengthening food security in the marine and fisheries sector requires collaboration across stakeholders, including lawmakers, to ensure sustainable implementation.
