Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto urged regional parliament (DPRD) leaders to act as “patriots” and align with the government’s priority programs during a closed-door briefing in Magelang, Central Java, on Saturday.

Speaking at the "All-Indonesia Regional Parliament Speakers Consolidation Course," the President told the approximately 503 provincial and municipal legislature chiefs in attendance that he intended to speak candidly about the nation's direction.

“As a patriot, I come here to meet you with one core assumption: that we are all patriots,” President Prabowo said in a broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat.

He expressed his belief that everyone in the room shared a deep love for the homeland, the nation, and the people shortly before the session transitioned into a private briefing.

The President arrived at the venue at 10 a.m. local time, accompanied by a high-level delegation of cabinet ministers tasked with providing technical details on national policy implementation.

This delegation included State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Home Minister Tito Karnavian, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) Governor Ace Hasan Syadzily noted that the gathering served to brief legislative leaders on supervising the government’s priority programs at the regional level.

Syadzily explained that the President’s briefing would cover the national consensus and the shifting impact of global geopolitical dynamics on Indonesia.

The lecture is intended to provide DPRD leaders with a more comprehensive perspective, enabling them to carry out their legislative functions in closer harmony with national objectives.
