This approach is very effective and has set a benchmark for many provinces and districts.
Banyumas (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto visited an integrated waste processing site (TPST) in Banyumas District, Central Java, lauding and proposing its education- and environment-driven approach as a national model for waste management reform.

Speaking in Wlahar Wetan Village on Tuesday afternoon, he highlighted that the facility employs “not-so-sophisticated yet effective technology,” relying largely on locally sourced materials within an integrated system spanning households to the district level.

“This approach is very effective and has set a benchmark for many provinces and districts. In fact, visitors from other countries have come here,” the president said.

Prabowo stated that the central government plans to introduce supporting initiatives to replicate the model nationwide as part of efforts to reform Indonesia’s waste management system.

“I will mobilize direct assistance to improve, develop, and make it more effective,” he affirmed.

The president stressed that his remarks reflect the government’s intensified efforts to address Indonesia’s long-standing waste problems.

“Overcoming waste issues has been designated a national priority. Our target is to properly manage all waste across Indonesia within the next two to three years,” he said.

He also highlighted recycled roof tiles produced by the TPST, suggesting their potential use in housing renovation programs.

“The roof tiles here are quite reliable and affordable,” he noted, adding support for his broader initiative to replace zinc roofing nationwide due to durability, aesthetic, and public health considerations.

He emphasized that these efforts aim to improve quality of life and strengthen Indonesia’s tourism appeal.

“We will make Indonesia a truly beautiful country, where tourism flourishes and people can live comfortably,” Prabowo said.

He was accompanied by State Secretariat Minister Prasetyo Hadi, Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, Deputy Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
