Jakarta (ANTARA) - Georgia's Ambassador to Indonesia, Tornike Nozadze, emphasized that his country always supports the peaceful resolution of any conflicts occurring around the world, including between Ukraine and Russia.

"We will and are supporting Ukraine by every and any means. But we are supporters of the peaceful resolution of any and every conflict," Ambassador Nozadze said in a special interview with ANTARA here on Tuesday.

He said that the war between Ukraine and Russia had not only changed Georgia's views on international security and policy but also policies around the world.

This was because the war had triggered a series of events that changed the entire security architecture, not only on the European continent but also globally.

Georgia, he said, is not an exception to conflicts and aggression, since 20 percent of the Georgian territory is still occupied by their northern neighbor, Russia.

Therefore, Nozadze emphasized that Georgia will support Ukraine in every way possible. However, Georgia prioritizes a peaceful resolution as the best solution to any conflict.

"We believe that even 100-year wars end in negotiation and in peaceful solution," he added.

Nozadze also hopes that the conflict between Ukraine and Russia will end soon so that the suffering felt by the people can also end soon.

Regarding internal and external security policies in Georgia, Nozadze reiterated his belief that any conflict can be resolved at the negotiating table.

"So, the sooner it ends, the fewer victims it will claim," he said.

He stressed that there is no other way than a peaceful resolution, including the conflict between Georgia and Russia.

Nozadze stressed that there is no alternative to countries' defense capabilities. In that way, Georgia has been aligning itself to be a very trustworthy partner to NATO.

"Georgia is also an aspirant country for NATO membership. And there is no alternative to table negotiations," he said.

To achieve this, Nozadze said, Georgia is not only ready to take various steps to reach a resolution of the conflict but also to mediate with partners so that the conflict can be resolved.

He added that the war in Ukraine has had a profound impact on the broader European and Eurasian security environment.

For Georgia, it underscores the importance of safeguarding sovereignty, strengthening national resilience, and deepening cooperation with international partners.

It has further reinforced their commitment to peaceful conflict resolution and adherence to international law.
