Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian and German governments have strengthened collaboration in the field of national industrial quality infrastructure through the 3rd High-Level Indonesian-German Annual Meeting on Quality Infrastructure.

Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita stated that strengthening the quality infrastructure system is an important factor in enhancing industrial competitiveness amid global trade dynamics and digital-based industrial transformation.

“Cooperation between Indonesia and Germany in the field of quality infrastructure is expected to strengthen the national industrial ecosystem so that it becomes more competitive, adaptive to global regulatory developments, and capable of expanding export market access, especially to the European region,” the minister said in a statement on Thursday.

The forum, held on May 7, 2026, in Jakarta, marked a strategic step to support the development of a national industry that is increasingly competitive, adaptive, and export-oriented.

According to him, quality infrastructure is an important foundation in creating a national industry capable of meeting global standards while increasing international market confidence in Indonesian manufactured products.

Meanwhile, Head of the Industry Standardization and Services Policy Agency (BSKJI), Emmy Suryandari, stated that quality infrastructure plays a strategic role in supporting national industrial competitiveness, consumer protection, greater international market access, and sustainable industrial transformation.

She also emphasized the importance of strengthening synergy between Indonesia and Germany in addressing global challenges, including the harmonization of technical regulations and industrial digital transformation.

One of the main agendas of the meeting was the signing of the Indonesia-Germany cooperation Work Plan for the 2026-2027 period.

The forum focused on three strategic issues: harmonization of quality infrastructure systems under the Indonesia-EU CEPA framework, strengthening product safety and quality through standardization, and the digitalization of quality infrastructure, including Indonesia’s readiness for the European Union’s Digital Product Passport (DPP) implementation.
