Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Gunawan Suswantoro, on Monday, said the development of the National Sports Academy and National Team Training Center, is currently entering its plan and synchronization stage involving ministries and agencies.
"This year, the focus is on its planning so that everything is well organized. Construction will be then taken place in 2027-2028 and by early 2029, everything is expected to be fully completed," Suswantoro said.
He noted the total budget for the area development is estimated at Rp5 trillion over three years of construction. The central government has prepared 500 hectares of land for the infrastructure project, he added.

The infrastructure will later be equipped with educational facilities from elementary to senior high school levels specifically for athletes, as well as sports venues for 21 priority sports.
"The goal is to train selected athletes to become world-class athletes," Suswantoro remarked.
Suswantoro mentioned the athletes to be trained will come from across Indonesia through a selection process based on potential in each sport. In addition to sports and educational facilities, the area is also designed to include sports research and development facilities.
He added the location in Rancabungur was chosen by President Prabowo Subianto.
Meanwhile, Bogor District Head Rudy Susmanto said the sports center area would become one of the largest sports hubs built by the central government in Bogor District.
The area covers around 750 hectares in total, consisting of 500 hectares managed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and another 250 hectares allocated for the expansion of Defense Ministry facilities.
