Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has asked his cabinet ministers to improve bureaucratic governance to create a positive business climate in the country, including by accelerating business licensing.

"The government must improve all our institutions to create a favorable business climate. We must not continue to exploit and harass entrepreneurs," President Prabowo said.

He made the statement during the presentation of the Macroeconomic Framework and Fiscal Policy Principles (KEM-PPKF) at the 19th Plenary Session of the House of Representatives for the 5th Session of the 2025-2026 Session Year at the parliament complex, Senayan, here on Wednesday.

The president also highlighted the need for government steps to simplify and expedite the business licensing process.

He specifically referred to neighboring Malaysia, which can issue permits in just two weeks, compared to Indonesia, which takes two years.

The president also highlighted the need for bureaucratic simplification, given that the difficult licensing process can hamper business activities in Indonesia.

This bureaucracy includes the need for a period of issuing technical regulations to recommendations at the ministry or institution level.

"I call on all ministers to streamline the bureaucracy," said the president.

He highlighted the need for cooperation between entrepreneurs and the government to ensure a favorable business climate.

The government has also supported companies by providing social security guarantees for the community to ease the burden on entrepreneurs.

The government is also open to suggestions from entrepreneurs, considering that the economy is currently facing global dynamics that have an impact on business activities.

"If there are entrepreneurs experiencing difficulties, let us know. If they request a tariff reduction, we will help it," the head of state explained.

President previously conveyed to the House of Representatives the macroeconomic framework and fiscal policy principles (KEM-PPKF) of the 2027 Draft State Budget in the 19th Plenary Session of the House for Session Period V of Session Year 2025-2026.

President Prabowo became the first Indonesian President to present the introduction of the Draft State Budget, which includes the macroeconomic framework and the main points of fiscal policy, to members of the House.

The meeting was attended by 451 members of the House, so the quorum was determined by the Speaker of the House, Puan Maharani.

The Plenary Session discussed three main agendas, including the submission of the Draft State Budget by the government, and the report of the Legislative Body of the House on the evaluation of the second amendment to the National Legislative Program for the 2026 Priority Bill, followed by decision-making.

The meeting also included the delivery of the factions' opinions on the House Commission III's initiative bill on amendments to Law Number 2 of 2002 concerning the Police of the Republic of Indonesia, followed by a decision on the initiative to become a bill proposed by the House.
