In Gaza, the situation is somewhat better compared with last year. Last year there were constant attacks, while now there is a ceasefire,Jakarta (ANTARA) - Former Indonesian Vice President, Jusuf Kalla, expressed hope that the Eid al-Adha would become a momentum for the international community to unite in helping rehabilitate Gaza amid the ongoing conflict in Palestine.
“Hopefully they can reach an agreement, and hopefully the world can unite to rehabilitate all of that (Gaza). That is the issue,” Kalla told reporters after performing Eid prayers at the Masjid Agung Al-Azhar in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Kalla, who served as Indonesia’s 10th and 12th vice president, said conditions in Gaza during this year’s Eid al-Adha were relatively calmer compared with last year. Despite this, he remained hopeful that a comprehensive peace accord could soon be reached.
He also stressed the importance of the international community’s role in addressing the humanitarian impact in Palestine. For that reason, he urged that this Eid al-Adha moment become a catalyst for countries around the world to unite in restoring Gaza.

Speaking about the meaning of Eid al-Adha, Kalla called on Muslims to reflect on the values of sacrifice and faith embodied in the Islamic holiday.
“We should always remember the meaning of sacrifice, as well as unity, worship, and faith in Allah,” he said.
