Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's state news agency ANTARA said its 2026 editorial coverage is largely focused on reporting issues related to President Prabowo Subianto's Asta Cita development agenda.

ANTARA President Director Benny Siga Butarbutar said the editorial framework is organized around three themes: economic affairs; politics, law and security; and human development and culture.

"Our mandate is to ensure our reporting is educational, empowering, informative and reflects national values," Benny told a parliamentary hearing on Tuesday.

According to him, key coverage areas include food security, food self-sufficiency, village cooperatives, energy, bureaucratic reform, anti-corruption efforts and national resilience.

Benny also said ANTARA provided extensive coverage of the disaster situation in Sumatra earlier this year.

To support the coverage, the agency deployed 15 journalists on a special reporting assignment.

"The aim was to provide balanced reporting amid intense criticism of the government on social media and alternative media platforms," he said.

He also sought support from parliament for ANTARA's planned development and acceleration programs.

Benny said ANTARA plans to reopen several overseas bureaus and requires greater support to strengthen cash flow, financial resilience and ongoing digitalization efforts.
