Minister Saifullah Yusuf said in a statement received in Jakarta that his office had mobilized relief supplies from its warehouse in Kupang on Monday in response to the deadly clash that broke out in East Adonara Subdistrict on Saturday (July 18).
He noted that the aid included 200 packages of ready-to-eat meals, 100 packages of children’s food, 200 packages of side dishes, 50 beds, 50 blankets, and one multi-purpose tent.
The ministry is also sending 50 packages each of clothing and essential equipment for children, families, and adults to ensure decent living conditions as peace and safety restoration efforts continue.
Yusuf pointed out that the clash involved residents from two villages, resulting in three fatalities, injuring five people, and damaging properties, including 20 homes.
He expressed condolences to the families of the victims and assured the public of an immediate response, highlighting measures by the East Flores district government to end the clash through persuasive efforts in collaboration with the military and police.
“The Social Affairs Ministry will maintain coordination with local authorities and all relevant parties to ensure swift and accurate responses tailored to the actual needs of residents,” he affirmed.
He went on to say that the district government is preparing a document to support emergency response measures, with its social affairs office verifying and validating victim data to facilitate the disbursement of death benefits from the ministry.
The minister also urged all parties involved in the conflict to exercise restraint, prioritize peaceful settlement, and allow law enforcement authorities to handle the case to help restore safety and public order in East Adonara.
