Haryanto made the statement during a hearing with Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR) at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday.
"The ship is scheduled to arrive on September 20, 2026," he said in a meeting which was broadcast on Parliament TV's YouTube channel.
To prepare for the vessel's arrival, the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) has undertaken various measures, including sending 100 personnel to Italy to train as the aircraft carrier's crew members.
These personnel will undergo both technical and practical training before sailing the aircraft carrier from Italy to Indonesia.
The Navy is also preparing several locations to serve as aircraft carrier bases, including Lampung.
Through these preparations, the military expects to maximize the carrier's operational capabilities.
Previously, during a press conference at Navy Headquarters in Jakarta, the Head of the Indonesian Navy Information Service, First Admiral Tunggul, said the Navy designated the Lampung Naval Base as one of the home ports for the Giuseppe Garibaldi carrier.
"Lampung is one of the bases prepared to accommodate the Garibaldi aircraft carrier's berthing and mooring," Tunggul said.
Lampung Naval Base was selected as one of the carrier bases due to its strategic location.
Tunggul added the Navy is upgrading facilities at Lampung Naval Base to support the Garibaldi Carrier.
He assured that all facilities would be completed before the aircraft carrier's arrival in Indonesia, ahead of the Indonesian National Armed Forces' anniversary in October 2026.
