“We agreed to strengthen our bilateral cooperation across key sectors, including critical raw minerals, science and technology, agriculture, and health,” Sugiono said in a statement posted to his official X account.
Both ministers also highlighted the importance of optimizing business-to-business (B2B) collaboration to ensure the successful implementation of the Indonesia-Chile Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IC-CEPA).
The two nations also used the occasion to reaffirm their mutual commitment to supporting solidarity among Global South countries in advancing a fair, inclusive, and sustainable global order.
“The meeting builds on 60 years of Indonesia-Chile bilateral ties,” Sugiono remarked.
According to the Indonesian Trade Ministry, Indonesia and Chile signed the IC-CEPA on December 14, 2017, and commenced its implementation on August 10, 2019.
An agreement on trade in services was subsequently signed on November 21, 2022. Indonesia recently ratified the Trade in Services Protocol under the IC-CEPA in early 2025.
Under the IC-CEPA framework, 6,704 Indonesian products, including agricultural, fishery, manufacturing, mining, and industrial goods, enjoy tariff-free entry into Chile.
Beyond these sectors, the agreement also covers cooperation in investment promotion and facilitation, science, research and development, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), tourism, logistics, international transportation, as well as information and communication technology.
Trade Ministry data showed that total bilateral trade between Indonesia and Chile in 2025 reached US$535.51 million, reflecting a 12.4 percent increase compared to the previous year.
Indonesian products are becoming increasingly competitive in the Chilean market, particularly automotive goods, fertilizers, and footwear, according to the data.
