Head coach of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) national training center, Eng Hian, confirmed the target on Tuesday following joint evaluation meetings with the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
"Based on the assessment from the Sports Ministry's review team, the target is one gold medal," Eng Hian said during a press conference in Jakarta.
"As the Chef de Mission mentioned, the strongest opportunity lies in the men's team event."
Eng Hian noted that preparations are progressing smoothly, with training periodization and tournament scheduling aligned to peak during the Games.
He added that recent tournament performances have shown encouraging upward trends in men’s doubles, creating a secondary path to a podium finish alongside potential contention in men's singles.
The final roster for the quadrennial multi-sport event remains under review as PBSI evaluates candidate fitness, form, and overall readiness.
Eng Hian confirmed a longlist of players has been compiled, with the final lineup set to be announced following the conclusion of the 2026 BWF World Championships, which run from Aug. 17 to 23.
