The ministry was quoted as saying on Instagram on Sunday that the event will feature musicians, cultural performances and evening entertainment designed to enliven the celebrations.
Entertainment stages will operate at Bundaran HI, the National Monument, or Monas, and Sarinah on Aug. 17, with events running from 7 a.m. to 11:10 p.m. local time.
Performers at Monas will include Dewa 19 featuring Ari Lasso and Mulan Jameela, NDX AKA and Wika Salim. Rizky Febian, Project Pop and Padi Reborn will perform at Sarinah.
Feel Koplo, Ndarboy Gank and Moluccan Soul will take the stage at Bundaran HI.
The celebration will also feature fireworks and traditional Indonesian arts and cultural performances.
The government has prepared traditional Independence Day competitions, including sack races, cracker fishing, hula-hoop throwing, daster dash, tic-tac-toe, flour relays, balloon dancing and tug-of-war.
Panjat pinang, or a greased-pole climbing contest, and chess competitions will be held at Monas. The venue will also feature a children’s play zone with rides and activities.
Games will include a carousel, mini train, human claw, trampoline, inflatable maze and giant Jenga.
Visitors can also join a stamp rally, collecting stamps from activities to redeem prizes, take free photos and sample food from small businesses.
The evening finale will feature a drone show, carnival, immersive experiences and video mapping.
