BNPB Head Lt Gen Suharyanto said the assistance would be determined based on the level of house damage and would be distributed after a thorough and accountable data collection and verification process had been completed.
"The government is preparing a housing repair assistance scheme for affected residents. For houses classified as lightly damaged, BNPB will provide Rp15 million, while moderately damaged will receive Rp30 million," Suharyanto said in an official statement here on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, for residents whose homes suffered severe damage, the government prepared a permanent housing solution. In the interim, BNPB is also providing temporary housing through a Housing Waiting Fund (DTH) of Rp600,000 (around US$33.65).
Residents whose homes are classified as severely damaged will later be able to choose between the two options: receiving the DTH to rent a house, or occupying temporary housing.
This scheme is designed to ensure residents still have adequate shelter while waiting for the permanent housing to be built.
"For residents whose homes were severely damaged, for example, if their house was destroyed, temporary housing will be built for them while they wait for permanent housing, or they will be given housing waiting funds," Suharyanto said.
Data collection is crucial to ensuring that assistance reaches the right recipients, while also preventing duplicate records or mismatched damage categories.
He called for strong collaboration among local governments, regional agencies for disaster countermeasures, and relevant parties to ensure the process is carried out quickly, accurately, and accountably.
"We want to ensure that affected residents receive assistance according to the condition of their damaged homes. Therefore, synergy among all elements at the regional level is very important so that this process runs quickly, accurately, and accountably," Suharyanto noted.
