“To achieve six percent economic growth in 2027, we must accelerate investment growth to seven percent,” Purbaya said after meeting lawmakers in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Purbaya said the target would be pursued through cooperation among the government, private sector and Danantara, Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund.
The government will serve as an investment catalyst, while the private sector is expected to remain the main investment driver, he said.
Danantara will accelerate productive investment, particularly in strategic and downstream sectors offering high added value, Purbaya said.
“To ensure each instrument operates effectively and complements the others, the government will strengthen coordination among fiscal, monetary and financial policies, as well as with Danantara,” he said.
Investment acceleration must also be accompanied by macroeconomic stability to provide certainty, strengthen economic confidence and encourage sustainable investment, Purbaya said.
The government plans to maintain stability through policies including inflation control to protect purchasing power, consumption and investment.
Maintaining competitive interest rates will also remain a priority to improve financing access, strengthen business confidence and encourage investment, Purbaya said.
The government will coordinate with Bank Indonesia to maintain rupiah stability, he added.
“These policies aim to strengthen economic resilience, mitigate global impacts and provide businesses with certainty for investment and expansion decisions,” Purbaya said.
He said the investment target was supported by strong economic fundamentals despite global uncertainty.
Indonesia’s economy grew 5.45 percent cumulatively in the first half of 2026, while inflation remained under control and bank liquidity was sufficient to support lending.
The trade balance remained in surplus from January through June 2026, while foreign exchange reserves reached US$145.3 billion as of July.
Positive sentiment in domestic financial markets also persisted, reflected in a stronger rupiah, gains in the Jakarta Composite Index and favorable movements in government bond yields.
Capital inflows reached 140.6 trillion rupiah (US$7.6 billion) as of August 28, 2026.
