Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta provincial government and China's Guangdong Province held a paradiplomatic dialogue in Guangzhou to explore economic cooperation, focusing on micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) empowerment and urban water management.

Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo, head of the Jakarta Industry, Trade, Cooperative, and SME Office, represented the capital during talks between Indonesian MSMEs Minister Maman Abdurrahman and Guangdong Governor Meng Fanli, according to an official statement on Saturday.

“Collaboration between regions is expected to pave the way for exchanges of knowledge, technology, and experience in managing the business sector, while creating avenues for investment and mutually beneficial partnerships,” Allo said.

Beside economic and MSME cooperation, Allo conveyed Jakarta’s interest in partnering with Guangdong on urban infrastructure, particularly water access and flood control.

Allo noted that Jakarta has reformed its approach to water management, including flood mitigation, as part of its ongoing transformation agenda.

She said the provincial government is confident about cooperation prospects with Guangdong centered on technology and knowledge transfers to modernize water services, implement smart metering, and reduce non-revenue water.

“We hope that Jakarta’s connection with international partners like Guangdong does not stop short at meetings; it should be translated into concrete cooperation that generates added value for communities and businesses,” Allo remarked.

The official expressed hope that the Guangzhou talks will lead to a direct meeting between Jakarta’s public water utility and the Guangzhou Water Group to explore collaboration opportunities.

“Jakarta is open to collaboration that can help strengthen our capacity, technology, and competitiveness,” she added.
