Eva Chairunisa, general manager of corporate secretary at KCIC, said monitoring involves operations, safety, rolling stock, and infrastructure units, including a pre-service inspection train run.
"Based on monitoring results so far, all Whoosh rolling stock and infrastructure are functioning normally and no problems have been found that disrupt operations. Whoosh continues to operate safely and normally, with passenger safety as the top priority," Chairunisa said in a statement on Monday.
KCIC monitors the 142.3-kilometer route through its Operation Control Center (OCC) and direct track inspections, checking overhead catenary systems, power supplies, tracks, signaling systems, and switches.
The route comprises 82.7 kilometers of elevated track, 42.78 kilometers of at-grade track, and 13 tunnels spanning a total of 16.82 kilometers.
The company is paying particular attention to open route sections with heightened risk of exposure to volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau in the Sunda Strait.
Train drivers reported that visibility along the corridor remains normal. Whoosh trainsets feature windshield wipers and fluid sprayers to maintain driver visibility if ash accumulates.
If visibility degrades, drivers will adjust operating speeds according to ground conditions and standard safety protocols.
KCIC is also monitoring train air filters and closed-circuit television cameras that track pantograph conditions. Infrastructure teams are checking insulation components, overhead electrical systems, substations, signaling equipment and switches.
All systems remain fully operational and unaffected by volcanic ash, KCIC said.
The operator is conducting a Volcanic Ash Risk Assessment guided by reports from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
The assessment will guide additional mitigation measures if volcanic ash intensity increases to levels that could affect Whoosh operations.
The railway's OCC also provides an additional safeguard. If monitoring systems detect abnormal conditions, an alert is generated and the system can automatically reduce Whoosh's operating speed as a mitigation measure.
KCIC advised passengers to wear masks and glasses, particularly in open areas of stations, maintain their health and follow instructions from staff.
Passengers were also urged to monitor the latest information through the Whoosh contact center and official social media channels as KCIC continues to assess conditions along the route.
