Head of the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Office Andhika Permata said that the event drew participation from more than 100 exhibitors from various countries and 400 selected buyers.
"The participation of the industry players was expected to strengthen business-to-business engagements and create cooperation opportunities in developing more competitive travel packages for Indian tourists," he noted in a statement cited here Tuesday.
Permata underscored India as a highly strategic and promising market for Jakarta's tourism, expressing confidence that travelers from the country are increasingly drawn to urban tourism destinations.
He added that the Jakarta government attended ITB India 2026 in collaboration with Indonesia's Tourism Ministry, facilitating seven curated co-exhibitors to promote their tour and travel, hotel, and tourist attraction services.
The Tourism Office, he continued, also intended its participation in ITB India as a step toward fostering lasting business relations with Indian tourism industry players.
In that context, Permata said attending the international exhibition was part of Jakarta’s strategy to expand its networks globally, strengthen its tourism competitiveness, and reinforce its image as a premium urban tourism destination and a hub for businesses and events.
He remarked that the approach aligns with the region’s vision of emerging among the top 50 global cities by 2030, as it will turn 500 next year.
Lucky Wulandari, Head of the Tourism Office’s Marketing and Attractions Division, noted that promotional activities during ITB 2026 were expected to help raise awareness about Jakarta among Indian tourists and draw more of them to visit the capital.
“We want Indian tourists to see Jakarta as a dynamic, safe, and comfortable destination offering myriad experiences,” she said, highlighting Jakarta’s historic, cultural, culinary, shopping, and entertainment appeal.
