"There will be training on how to apply digital technology, especially AI. As for how we sell, I think with AI it will be easier for us to penetrate the global market," Santoso said at the opening of the "Reach the Global Market with AI Training", held with Meta here on Wednesday.
Santoso said AI technology can help MSMEs market and explain their products to prospective overseas buyers, making it easier for buyers to understand what is being offered.
According to him, the use of digital technology is not only intended for export-oriented MSMEs but can also be utilized to expand sales in the domestic market.
Santoso said several Indonesian MSMEs that have exported their products show that the use of AI technology can help prospective buyers understand and recognize Indonesian products.
He explained that the digital and AI technology training for MSMEs is part of a series of programs under National Online Shopping Day (Harbolnas).
The training has previously been held in Bandung and Batam and will be conducted on a rotating basis in other regions, given the large number of MSMEs in Indonesia.
Moreover, the minister stressed that the MSME products participating in the program have gone through a curation process, with the results showing the products meet export market standards.
"These products have already met export standards, so now our focus is on how to sell and how to advertise," he said.
The Trade Ministry said it is cooperating with Meta Indonesia and UMKIndonesia ID to provide mentoring for MSME players in utilizing digital technology, including AI, for marketing and advertising.
Santoso expressed hope that the training can boost MSMEs' competitiveness while expanding market access for local products, both domestically and abroad.
