Makassar, S Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - Maros Water Park (MWP) in Maros district, South Sulawesi will soon be operated to enrich the natural tourism objects in the province.

MWP operator PT Aquana Timpuseng Mineral marketing manager Fahmy Mochtar said here on Monday that the park occupied a 2.8 hectares plot of land with an investment of Rp24 billion.

"We have completed the principle permission while the development is 70 percent ready so in May this year the park will be fully operated," Fahmi said.

He said the MWP operating company has expressed hope that when the park was operated, 1000 tickets would be sold per week with a break event point of around three years. The maximum capacity of visitor is expected to reach 3,000 to 4,000 people.

Fahmi was optimistic that the target could be reached because the park has 13 attracting facilities such as water boom, rafting, and out bound, all located on the edge of forest area.

"We have a water spring with the capacity of 1,500 liter per second for the water park. We also keep the originality of the forest area to maintain its natural impression," Fahmi said.

He said the natural impression of the forest area near the Maros Water Park should be kept for the visitors to enjoy the presence of monkeys and various kinds of butterflies there.(*)
