San Jose (ANTARA News/AFP) - Japan`s Prince Akishino, the second son of Emperor Akihito, met Wednesday with Costa Rica`s President Laura Chinchilla on a visit to the Central American nation to mark 75 years of bilateral ties.

Chinchilla welcomed the prince and his wife, Princess Kiko, to the presidential residence for a two-hour meeting. Officials did not immediately release details on the discussions.

Prince Akishino, who holds a doctorate in ornithology, paid a visit to the National Biodiversity Institute.

The Japanese royals are expected to visit a children`s hospital, a livestock center and the Popular Culture Museum during their stay. (*)
