Jakarta (ANTARA News) - People convicted for corruption will eventually be made to serve their sentences in one jail, namely the Cipinang State Penitentiary in east Jakarta, Law and Human Rights Minister Patrialis Akbar said.

"We have decided that all corruption convicts will be held in one and the same jail, namely Cipinang State Penitentiary," Patrialis said after inspecting the facility on Saturday.

He said Cipinang was chosen because conditions there were "good and suitable."

Cipinang State Penitentiary had a capacity for 252 inmates but it was now holding only 68. "So it still has a lot of space to accommodate prisoners," he said.

Patrialis visited Cipinang prison one day after the Corruption Eradication (KPK) arrested nine former House of Representatives (DPR) members suspected of having received bribes for the election of Miranda Goeltom as Bank Indonesia (central bank) senior deputy governor. (*)
