Zurich (ANTARA News) - Indonesia hopes Egypt will soon be able to find the right solution to overcome its domestic problems to prevent more victims.

"The development in Egypt is indeed very concerning. I hope on behalf of a country which is friendly to Egypt, their domestic problems could be overcome well," President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said at Hotel Radisson at the Zurich International Airpoort compound, Switzerland, here on Saturday.

In his press conference before leaving for home after visiting India and Switzerland for the World Economic Forum, President Yudhoyono said Indonesia would not interfere and would only hope that Egypt could find a solution acceptable by all people.

"Indonesia is not in a position to intervene and perhaps there will be wise solutions matching the interests of the Egyption people that could prevent more victims," he said.

President Yudhoyono admitted he was following the development in Egypt closely and the government had assured the security of its citizens there.

"Our interest is to protect our citizens in Egypt," he said in the company of among others foreign minister Marty Natalegawa.

Demonstrations had being going on in Egypt for the past few days to demand the resignation of President Mubarak.(*)
