Jakarta (ANTARA News) - French Minister of Economy, Finance and Industry Christine Lagarde is scheduled to arrive here on Thursday for a two-day visit during which she will hold talks with a number of Indonesian officials.

Lagarde will during the visit be accompanied by Junior Minister of Transportation Thierry Mariani and around 40 French businessmen grouped in the French Business Confederation (MEDEF), the French Embassy in Jakarta said in a press statement on Wednesday.

Lagarde and entourage will meet with Vice President Boediono on Thursday and later hold talks with Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa, Trade Minister Mari E Pangestu, Industry Minister MS Hidayat, and Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo.

The embassy said Lagarde`s visit in Indonesia reflected how important was the cooperation with Indonesia in the economic and trade fields.

The visit was also intended to follow up the strategic partnership plan agreed upon by the two countries during President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono`s visit in Paris in December 2009.

The French businessmen represent companies engaged in energy, transportation, aviation and outer space, construction and public works, and sustainable development.

Legarde`s visit will also allow exchange of views on multilateral essential issues, particularly those included in the agenda of G-20 forum of which France is the chair this year.

Indonesia which is a G-20 member and the current chair of ASEAN is France`s important partner.(*)
