Bratislava (ANTARA News/AFP) - The Czech Republic called Saturday on its citizens to leave Libya and said it would close its embassy in the capital Tripoli as the violence in the oil-rich North African state escalates.

"The security situation in Libya is confusing and especially in the capital Tripoli it has been gradually worsening," the ministry said on its website.

"The ministry calls on its citizens to leave the country for the sake of their own security," the ministry said, adding it expected a critical development in the country.

The Czech Republic`s neighbouring country Slovakia also said Saturday it has temporarily closed its embassy and evacuated its employees, foreign ministry spokesman Lubos Schwarzbacher told AFP. (*)
