Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono should act firmly against Cabinet Secretary Dipo Alam who wants to boycott certain media criticizing the government, former Vice President Jusuf Kalla Said here on Monday.

"What Dipo Alam has done as a government official is something excessive and not according to law. If he does not like media that prioritized the government, he should just convey it to the Press Council," Kalla said after attending a ceremony yo send off the Bukit Barisan Expedition Team 2011 at Army Headquarters here.

Therefore, the former vice president said President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono should act firmly against Dipo Alam who was at odds with Media Group.

Meanwhile. presidential spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha has expressed hope that the dispute between Dipo Alam and Media Group would be solved well.

But he admitted here on Monday that to date President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono had so far not given any directives to Dipo Alam to seek the best possible solution to his problem with Media Group.

"We certainly expect the best possible solution to the case, although there has yet to be any directives from the president to Dipo Alam to do so," Julian said.

The presidential spokesman reiterated what Dipo Alam had done in relation with Media Group was his personal business and had nothing to do with his job as an aide to the President.

Therefore, Julian said, any legal consequences of Dipo Alam`s actions were his own personal responsibility.

"He acted in his own capacity and thus the legal process is certainly his own responsibility," Julian said, adding that Dipo Alam`s criticism of certain media was not to obstruct press freedom.

The conflict between Dipo Alam and Media Group has entered the legal domain after the latter reported the former to the police.
