Empanang, W.Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - Oil palm plantation company Sinar Mas Group has constructed two official residences for primary school teachers in West Kalimantan sub-district of Empanang, a spokesman said.

The two houses which were built in Piyam hamlet, Empanang sub-district, Kapuas Hulu district, West Kalimantan province have been awarded to teachers of the primary school (SDN-08) in the hamlet, according to Susanto, top leader of the Sinar Mas group here recently.

"We come here not only to seek profits, but also to help alleviate the Kapuas Hulu people`s economic condition," Susanto said.

He expressed hope that in 10 to 15 years to come, some of the Kapuas youths can become top leaders in the plantations company to help develop their region.

Tha Sinar Mas group, according to him, paid great attention to preserving the environment and the education standard of the people living around the oil palm estate.

In addition, the Kapuas Hulu district head, AM Nasir expressed his appreciation for the company`s participation and concern to help education program in the area.

AM Nasir also hoped that the company could also extend their assistance for health services and other infrastructure.

Kapuas Hulu`s width is about 29,850 square kilometers, 56.51 percent of which had been allocated for the conservation area, AM Nasir cited.

In the meantime, the Sinar Mas group top leader, Susanto, also expressed thanks giving to the district administration and its people because the company could develop the plantations area, reaching about 10 thousand hectares in three districts thanks to the local administration and the people`s help.
