Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State-owned Bank BNI said on Wednesday its net profit last year climbed 65 percent to Rp4.10 trillion from a year earlier on rising net interest income and non-interest income.

Net interest income rose to Rp11.72 trillion from Rp11.13 trillion and non-interest income jumped to Rp7.06 trillion from Rp4.29 trillion, BNI President Director Gatot M Suwondo said.

"Profit before provision rose 22 percent to Rp9.12 trillion from Rp7.49 trillion. Provision fell 10 percent from Rp4.051 trillion to Rp3.63 trillion. So the net profit in 2010 reached Rp4.10 trillion, up 65 percent from Rp2.48 trillion in 2009," he said.

The increase in net profit raised earning per share to Rp266 from Rp163, up 63 percent, he said.

He said the rising net profit led to a 9 percent increase in total assets to Rp248.58 trillion in 2010 from the year before.

The amount of credits channeled last year rose 13 percent to Rp136.36 trillion and the amount of third party funds raised in 2010 increased 3 percent to Rp194.38 trillion, he said.

"BNI`s financial fundamentals are getting stronger with the coverage ratio (provision to gross non-performing loan ratio) standing at a level of 120.6 percent from 2009, while return on assets (ROA) increased 1.7 percent to 2.5 percent, and return on equity (ROE) went up to 24.7 percent from 16.4 percent," he said.
