In the past their target was foreigners and their symbols but now they target government officials, including police officers."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Coordinating Minister for Political, Security and Legal Affairs Djoko Suyanto has called on the police to immediately identify perpetrator of the suicide bombing at the mosque of the Cirebon police headquarters.

But "what is important is knowing who was behind it," he said after leading a coordination meeting here.

Djoko said those behind the suicide bombing attack might have changed their method and targets.

"The possibility exists. In the past their target was foreigners and their symbols but now they target government officials, including police officers," he said.

A suicide bomber detonated a bomb at a mosque in the compound of the Cirebon city resort police station during Friday prayers on Friday killing the bomber and wounded dozens of police officers.

National police chief General Timur Pradopo visited the scene on Friday and confirmed that there had indeed been a bomb attack at the Cirebon police station.

"This was believed to be the work of a suicide bomber aged between 25 and 30 years and 170 cm high," he said.

He said investigation was now still being carried out. He said he could not as yet classify the explosives used. He said the bomb was believed to be strapped on the body of the bomber although it still had yet to be confirmed.

He said the motive behind it had not yet been known while the body of the bomber had been flown to the police hospital in Jakarta for further investigation. He said although he was badly injured his face was still clearly recognizable.
