Subang, W Java (ANTARA News) - Chairman of the Muslim Students Association (HMI) Nurfajriansyah has strongly denounced Friday (15/4)`s suicide bomb attack at a mosque in the Cirebon police complex.

"The Executive Board of HMI strongly condemns the terror attack and violence which have reemerged in Indonesia since the past two months," Nurfajriansyah said Saturday via mobile phone.

He urged the Police to investigate the incident and arrest the actor behind the bomb attack.

The National Police should act quickly in dealing with the bomb explosion for the sake of the national security stability and the international confidence toward Indonesia, he said.

"If the bomb attack is not dealt with soon, it will have a negative impact on the national economy," he said.

the data from Pelabuhan Hospital in Cirebon show that the number of people injured in a suspected suicide bomb attack at a police station`s mosque in Cirebon, West Java, on Friday has risen to 28.

One man was killed in the bomb attack. He was believed to have detonated the bomb during Friday prayers at the mosque.

Among the injured were chief of the Cirebon city police Adj Snr Comr Herukoco, chief of the traffic unit Adj Comr Kurnia, chief of the intelligence unit Adj Comr Singgih and preacher Abas.

The blast was so powerful that it also injured a woman outside the mosque. Most of the victims sustained injuries caused by nails and bolts which the bomb had contained and were flung around when it exploded.

Chief of the Cirebon city police Adj Snr Comr Herukoco suffered wounds on his back.

It was believed the perpetrator was seated behind Herukoco before the Friday prayers began.

State Intelligence Agency (BIN) head Sutanto said in Jakarta on Friday the suicide bomb attack in Cirebon, West Java,that killed a person and hurt more than 25 others, was perpetrated by an old terror network.

"It was the same network, what`s different is the individuals. They have recruited new players and the modus operandi is not new either," Sutanto said after a coordinating meeting on political, legal and security affairs.(*)
