Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The total assets of the Deposit Insurance Agency (LPS) in 2010 were recorded at Rp22.5 trillion or an increase by Rp4.8 trillion if compared with that in the previous year which was Rp17.7 trillion, its executive director said.

"The performance of LPS is improving because the country`s economy is relatively stable so that the risks that LPS has to bear becomes smaller," LPS Executive Directgor Firdaus Djaelani said here on Friday.

He said that the main assets of LPS consisted of investment in the form of Bank Indonesia Certificates (SBI) worth Rp5.99 trillion, state bonds valued Rp9.36 trillion and premium payments of Rp4.17 trillion.

"The total investment accounts for Rp15.35 trillion with premium receipts worth Rp4.17 trillion which increased by Rp399 billion from Rp3.77 trillion in 2009," he said.

He said that there was also an another increase from other investment amounting to Rp162 billion from Rp967 billion in 2009 to Rp1.129 trillion in 2010.

The increase in the premium receipts were boosted by the increase in the deposit of customers in 2010 to Rp2,105 trillion from Rp1,841 trillion in 2009.

"We hope that the premium income would increase at the end of the year to Rp5 trillion," he said.
