Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Manpower and Transmigration Minister Muhaimin Iskandar is committed to tighten and restrict outsourcing or the contract system of Indonesian laborers.

"Outsourcing will be tightened and restricted and may eventually be revoked," said Muhaimin when accompanying President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in a visit to a ceramics firm, PT Keramik Kemenangan Jaya in Bogor, West Java, on Sunday (May 1).

In recent years, laborers in their street rallies on May Day have been requesting for a revocation of contracts.

In addition, Muhaimin also urged the police and prosecutors to supervise the suppression of trade unions, while the government was trying to improve the welfare and safety of workers under the employees social security scheme (Jamsostek).

Regarding labor street rallies on May Day, Minister Muhaimin hoped that street actions to be carried out orderly and safely.

Muhaimin also said, the government will listen to the messages delivered, so that May Day commemoration will not create conflicts.

The President and Mrs Ani Yudhoyono, accompanied by several cabinet ministers inspected PT Keramik Kemenangan Jaya in Gunung Putri sub-district, Bogor, West Java province.

PT Keramik Kemenangan Jaya established in 1994 has a production capacity of 14 million square meters of ceramics per year and employed 1,140 people.

The company has been exporting its products to Malaysia, Korea, China, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Mauritius and some countries in the Middle East. (*)
