Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) and the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) agreed to exchange views on how to reinforce and attain the common goal of creating an ASEAN community in 2015.

"We have agreed that each time there is an ASEAN summit, the AIPA would be asked to provide opinions on various aspects," Indonesian House Speaker Marzuki Alie said.

He made the remarks after attending a meeting between ASEAN leaders and delegates of the AIPO at the Jakarta Convention Center here on Saturday.

He said that all issues agreed upon in the AIPA forum would be taken to the ASEAN forums as an input or view.

Alie said that such a mechanism would benefit efforts to accelerate the attainment of the ASEAN goals.

"The cooperation of the two institutions is expected to help speed up the creation of the ASEAN Community in 2015," Marzuki Alie said.

He said earlier that the AIPA served as a communication forum for building the 2015 ASEAN Community.

"We always establish communications between AIPA and ASEAN in the framework of attaining the goals and creating the ASEAN Community in 2015," Marzuki Alie said after an AIPA delegate meeting here on Saturday.

"Cooperation between the parliaments and governments are vitally important because there are many resolutions made by the parliaments. The many resolutions would be difficult to be synergized if not coordinated by the two organizations," he said.
