Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Through a cooperation with related ministries, the government will soon build a marine manpower office, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry`s Human Resources Development spokesman Syarief Widjaya said here on Wednesday.

He said the office was expected to arrange and manage the increasing overseas demand for marine and fisheries related manpower from Indonesia.

"A joint marine manpower office among Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry, Manpower and Transmigration Ministry, National Education Ministry, and Transportation Ministry will soon be declared," Syarief Widjaya said.

He said the office would be declared at the closure of International Job Fair on Marine and Fisheries in Jakarta from May 23-25, 2011.

Syarief explained that the joint marine manpower office was expected to permanently organize the International Job Fair on Marine and Fisheries every year.

Besides, he added that the office of the cross-ministerial cooperation would also provide Indonesian job seekers in marine and fishery field with information about job opportunities.

He also said a lot of Indonesian sailors were working abroad at present in the fields of shipping sector, fishery management industries, and aquaculture.

Meanwhile, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Fadel Muhammad said recently that around 12,000 Indonesians are currently working on board various ocean liners in international waters.
