Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government needs to provide legal certainty for nursery profession by endorsing the bill on nursing into law, a legislator said.

"The bill on nursing will be deliberated by the working committee of the House`s Commission IX on health affairs in the current House`s fourth sitting period. It would be the sooner the better for Indonesian nurses," lawmaker Ledia Hanifa said here on Thursday.

Ledia made the remarks in connection with the International Nursery Day which falls on May 12.

She said that the international nursery day should serve as a reflection for the government to provide more attention to the nurse fact in the country.

The legislator who hailed from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) said that the law on nursing would serve as a legal basis for the country`s nursery education system.

Thus, the country would be able to produce loyal nurses with at least would have minimal competent standard.

"This would have positive impact on the health services in Indonesia," she added.
