Bogor, West Java (ANTARA News) - As many as 22,576 visitors came to Bogor Botanical Garden, West Java province, three days before the Vesak day (May 17), which was declared a public holiday in Indonesia.

On Tuesday as the peak of the visit, the number of visitors amounting 9,410 people, Upun Punijar, ticketing coordinator said here on Tusday.

Bogor Botanical Gardens, the best of its kind in South East Asia region, as a living museum and located in the middle of Bogor City, has 3,504 species, divided into 1,273 genera and 199 families.

The 87-hectare Bogor Botanical Gardens celebrated its 182 anniversary this May 2011.

Upun Punijar said further that the visitors coming to the botanical garden on Monday (May 16) reached 4,000 people, on Sunday 5,799 people and on Saturday 3,367 people.

According to Upun Punijar, the amount of visitors during the four days exceeded the targets, which are normally 3,000 to 5,000 people at the weekends.(*)
