Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The bill on currency that has been agreed on during the first level deliberations in the House of Representatives (DPR) does not regulate the rupiah`s redenomination, a senior finance ministry official said.

"The rupiah`s redenomination will be regulated in a separate law," Mulia Nasution, secretary general of the ministry of finance, said here on Thursday.

He said that before a law on the rupiah`s redenomination was issued, the rupiah`s value might not be changed. "This is because redenomination would have a major impact on trade and international agreements," he said.

Mulia said that the DPR`s House Commission XI on financial affairs has agreed the bill on currency after it passed a long deliberation. It would soon be taken to the House`s plenary session for its endorsement.

The bill among others regulates currency planning, supervision of fake money and money extermination.

"As of August 17, 2014, the money would be signed by the government/finance minister and the governor of Bank Indonesia," Mulia said.(*)
