Cairo (ANTARA News) - Former Indonesian president Bacharuddin Jusup Habibie and former chairman of the People`s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Amien Rais will become keynote speakers at an international forum on democratic transition to be held here on June 5-6.

Organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the forum will be opened by Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf, the world body said in a press statement on Tuesday.

The two-day forum will also feature a number of political experts and leaders from Asia, East Europe, Latin America and South Africa.

According the agenda of the meeting, Amien Rais will deliver his keynote speech on the first day of the forum on Sunday, along with Genaro Ariiagada, a Chilean politician who ousted the dictator Augusto Pinochet in 1988, and Cecar Nava, chief of Mexico`s National Action Party (PAN).

Meanwhile, Habibie will speak on the second day of the forum on Monday, along with Albie Sachs, South African constitutional court justice appointed by Nelson Mandela, and Jorge Taiana, former Argentinian minister of international trade and foreign affairs.

The forum will discuss in detail democratic transition and international experiences in solving political crises and creating democratic life. (*)
