Bogor, W Java (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Hospital project in Gaza, Palestine, still needs Rp30 billion in funds to be completed , the volunteer organization Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C) said.

"We call for the help of the Indonesian people or any party including the government to help complete the construction of the hospital which would serve as a symbol of friendship between the two countries," Presidium Chairman of MER-C Indonesia, dr Sarbini Abdul Murad, said here on Thursday night.

He said that the donation provided previously by the Indonesian people was not yet enough. After all, the government which had previously expressed its commitment, failed to realize it until now.

"Therefore, we launch again our campaign for collecting donations in hope that we would be able to continue the commitment to the development of the hospital in Gaza," he said.

Sarbini said his side had over the past week conducted a roadshow to mosques in Jakarta. "Thanks God we have collected about Rp1 bilion," he said.

MER-C Presidium member dr Joserizal Jurnalis Sp OT said meanwhile that his organization has also sent a letter to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in connection with the construction of the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza.(*)(A014/HAJM/a014)
