Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Prabowo Subianto and Jimly Assidiq supported the establishment of Soeharto Center by Probosutedjo, the younger half-brother of former Indonesian president Soeharto.

"The establishment of Soeharto Center is very good because it is intended to share Soeharto`s ideas during his presidency," Prabowo said after a meeting at Le Meredian Hotel to establish the center on Thursday.

Prabowo said the establishment of Soeharto Center was a right thing at present because the government needed a lot of ideas in its efforts to step up national economic development.

"During his 32 years in power, Soeharto had yielded a lot of policies and ideas that can be redeveloped with the existence of Soeharto Center," Prabowo said.

Meanwhile, Jimly Assidiq said the right study was about corruption eradication, because during Soeharto`s rule there was a strong sense of nationalism among all government officials so they did not commit corruption.

"Suharto`s leadership attitude at the time should be taken as example by the current government to prevent continuous emergence of corruption," Jimly said.

Probosutedjo, the younger half-brother of former Indonesian president Soeharto, established Soeharto Study Center here on Thursday.

Located at the second floor of Mercu Buana University in West Jakarta, the Soeharto Study Center will function as the center of studies and discussions on national economic development plans.

"The Soeharto Study Center will function to dig into the thoughts of the former Indonesian president who has ruled for 32 years as the present government`s reference in the framework of national economic development," Probosutedjo said after a meeting to establish the center at Le Meredian Hotel on Thursday.

He said discussions to find out government solution to current national issues could also be conducted at the Soeharto Center.

Probosutedjo also mentioned Soeharto`s policy and national programs namely the State Policy Guidelines, better known as Garis-Garis Besar Haluan Negara or GBHN, represented a consensus on the direction of national development for each successive period.(*)
