Jakarta (ANTARA News) - House of Representatives (DPR) Deputy Speaker Priyo Budi Santoso said three police officers deserved to succeed Commissioner General Ito Sumardi as Head of the Police Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim).

The three names are East Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Bambang Widaryatmo, North Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Wisjnu A Sastro, as well as the Jakarta Police Chief Inspector General Sutarman.

"The post of Head of the Criminal Investigation Department Ito Sumardi will soon be handed over to a new chief because the current head (Ito Sumardi) will soon retire," Priyo Budi Santoso told the press at the parliament building here on Friday.

According to Priyo, a number of names of police officers had begun to be mentioned to replace the outgoing head of the Criminal Investigation Department.

However, Priyo, who is also an associate chairman of the Golkar Party, viewed that the three police officers he had mentioned deserve the position to replace Ito Sumardi.(*)
