Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA News) - Bali earned 2.14 million US dollars in foreign exchange from the export of 410,620 pairs of footwear in the four months of 2011.

The achievement dropped 12.41 pct compared to the 2.46 million US dollars in last year`s same period from the export of 686,072 pcs, head of the public relations and protocol division of the Bali provincial administration I Ketut Teneng said here over the week end.

He said Balinese handicraft workers produced various designs of footwear products.

Ketut Teneng added that footwear exports are only one of the eight kind of household handicraft articles, besides house building components, plastics, handbags, textile and textile products.

The shipment of footwear contributed 1.27 pct of the Bali`s total exports worth 168.13 million US dollars in the first four months of 2011, a drop of 7.15 pct from the 181.08 million US dollars in last year`s same period, Ketut Teneng said. (*)
