Police also seized a number of arrows and machetes as evidence.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Police on Tuesday detained 11 people for their alleged part in an explosion at Khilafiah Umar bin Khatab Islamic Boarding School in Bima district, West Nusa Tenggara, the day before.

"True, there has been bomb explosion at the Islamic boarding school owned by preacher Umar bin Khatab. Today 11 people have been detained," spokesman of the National Police Headquarters Insp Gen Anton Bachrul Alam said here on Tuesday.

Police also seized a number of arrows and machetes as evidence, he said.

He said police officers were denied entry into the Islamic boarding school compounds to investigate the explosion.

Police tried to make preventive approaches with the management of the Islamic boarding school on Monday night to have access to it so as to avoid a clash.

One person was killed in the explosion.

West Nusa Tenggara Police spokesman Adj Comr Sudjoko Aman said on Tuesday the dead victim was identified as Firdaus, the treasurer of the Islamic boarding school.

Sudjoko said the police have so far alleged that the explosion at the Islamic boarding school came from a home-made bomb because the blast was so strong with a great cloud of smoke billowed out of the school.(*)
